Volunteers are vital to hospices in helping to deliver high quality care.  More than 125,000 volunteers in the UK contribute to hospice care in a wide range of roles.

We have a fantastic group of dedicated volunteers, which without them we simply couldn’t continue to provide such a high level of patient care and support.  Our volunteers are vital to the work of The Wisdom Hospice and each play an integral role in running of the Wisdom Hospice.

We are always looking for new people to join our team – just a few hours of your time will make a huge difference.

Volunteer for the Friends

The Friends increasingly need more and more volunteers to support our fundraising work.

Volunteer at our Fundraising Events, Restoration House, local community Events, supermarket Bucket Collections or become a marshal at one of our landmark events.  We have something for everyone.

Volunteer in the Hospice

As a hospice volunteer you will work alongside our staff as part of a professionally trained and skilled workforce enhancing and supporting the delivery of high quality care. This can be either through direct contact with patients and their carers or as part of the invaluable workforce operating behind the scenes to support services.

There are many varied roles we can offer you as a volunteer, including; specialist positions such as a complimentary therapist, bereavement counsellor, driving patients and assisting with administrative tasks. To find more about what is expected of our volunteers please click here or contact Volunteer Services Manager, Debra Gaskin, on 01634 830456 or email debragaskin@nhs.net

Volunteer in our Shop - Join our team

We need enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to help maximise sales, which will help to fund the running of the hospice.

Tasks may include:

- Sorting clothes
- Serving customers
- Pricing goods
- Cleaning & preparing goods for sale
- Creating window displays

Training will be provided, and time commitment is flexible. We will also be able to provide a reference to prospective employers.

This is a great opportunity to gain and develop your experience in the competitive retail sector, make new friends, and help The Wisdom Hospice provide specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting conditions.
